Clock Tower at UB

President's Message

Welcome to the University of Bridgeport! I am honored to serve as the twelfth president of the University of Bridgeport.

Danielle WilkenThe University of Bridgeport has a proud legacy of providing our students with career-oriented programs and flexible degree options to prepare them to succeed in life, and this is a legacy that I plan to build upon.

Helping students to achieve their potential is my passion. It is important to me as a mother, and it is one of the reasons I made the shift in my career years ago from healthcare professional to higher education leader. It is also one of the things that drew me to UB.

Higher education serves students best when it embraces the qualities that make us unique. We all learn—and are inspired to learn—in different ways. Some of us are visual learners. Some need to relate what we’re learning to our own lives to make it meaningful. During their time at UB, I want our students to know they are supported by our faculty, but I also want them to feel empowered to take control of their own learning—their future.

By recognizing and celebrating our differences, higher education becomes even more inclusive. And that is how we will reinvigorate the diversity of the UB student body and better nurture students on their unique paths to personal and professional growth.

UB is a supportive community, and I am thrilled to share that, after many challenging months for all of us, we plan to return to normal operations during the fall semester. From on-campus tours to in-person classes and cheering on the Purple Knights, we are truly excited to welcome all our current and prospective students back to UB later this summer to experience all that this beautiful seaside campus has to offer.
