Undergraduate honors students at UB can take advantage of early course registration, ensuring a spot in some of our most sought-after courses. As an honors program student, you'll have access to the Honors Lounge, where you can study and collaborate with your peers.

University of Bridgeport offers Honors students a dynamic, challenging, and supportive environment — you'll finish your degree with more confidence, professional experience, and personal growth. UB Honors students receive recognition at their graduation ceremony.


The Honors Program is designed for students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement.

New Students

First-year accepted students with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher will be invited to join the Honors Program after submitting their deposit.

Transfer Students

Undergraduate transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher at their previous institution can apply to join the Honors Program. Students must be transferring less than 60 credits.

Current UB Students

Current students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher can apply for the Honors Program before completing 60 credits.


Students in the Honors Program must:

  • Complete at least five courses with the Honors designation. Students can find these courses in the Course Catalog.
  • Submit an Honors thesis (optional, but strongly recommended).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and earn a minimum of a "B" in an Honors designated course for that course to be counted toward the Honors Program requirements.
