New Student Checklist

Go to www.studentaid.gov. You must create a FSA ID (takes 24 hours) to begin the financial aid process. Once your FSA ID is completed, log-in and complete the appropriate years FAFSA. Remember to select that you are a graduate student and UB using our school code 001416. Financial aid packages are typically generated two weeks after your FAFSA is received by UB

This is done by logging into www.studentaid.gov using your FSA ID

• You must email sfs@bridgeport.edu with your name and student ID number (found on your accept letter) to let the Student Financial Services office know if you will be accepting or declining your federal loan offer. If you wish to reduce the amount you were awarded, please specify the exact dollar amount you would like
• Please see the included handout “Accessing Your Account and Making Payments” for detailed directions on how to make payments, enroll in a payment plan, and set up your eRefund. Any changes made to your financial aid after you accept, decline, or modify your financial aid must be put in writing and emailed to sfs@bridgeport.edu

A credit balance in your student account is created when you have financial aid remaining after all eligible charges to your student account are paid in full. Once all charges have been paid, any excess funds will be remitted to you. Refunds will not start to process until after the first week of your second module class has been completed Students who wish to receive their refund electronically, must sign up for direct deposit on the UB Portal. Please refer to the "Bills, Refunds, & Payment Plans" handout for more information

Go to www.bridgeport.edu/myub. Creating your UBNet ID provides access to the UB Portal, Canvas, Web Advisor, UB mail (available after registering for classes), financial aid package, your schedule, grades, and university notifications. You will need your student ID number in order to create your UBNet ID. This number is available on your acceptance letter

• You will receive an e-mail from your Academic Advisor to the e-mail address you provided on your application in order to register for classes
• DC, PA, and Initial Teacher Certification students will be registered as a cohort by their departments
• Sixth Year in Educational Leadership (092 Certification) - students will register at new student orientation

Each transcript must be an original official transcript with the registrar's stamp or signature. Scanned, photocopied or uploaded transcripts submitted as part of your application for admission do not fulfill this requirement. Documents must be received no more than 30 days after the start of classes and should be sent to:
