I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelors in Marketing. As a first generation college student, I strongly believe students can use their education as a launching pad to achieve personal and professional goals and I’ve found purpose in assisting students and their families through the college admissions process. When I am not at the University of Bridgeport, you can find me teaching competitive dance classes or visiting my family in Florida.

I graduated with my Bachelors from Merrimack College and then with my Masters from Central Connecticut State University. I was very involved as an undergraduate student and this lead me to a career in Higher Education. I am a First Generation college student so I knew from the beginning of my academic career that I wanted to work with college students so they have the best experience that they can. I love watching movies, being with friends and family and going to NYC to see a Broadway show.

My name is Sabrina Maldonado and I just recently completed my Master’s degree in Spring 2020 at Central CT State University. My field of study was Counseling with a Specialization in Student Development in Higher Education. While in college I was a Student Leader and gained a passion for being a mentor and helping guide students in the right direction. I have always valued education, and find it so important for Higher Education professionals to be a support for students in reaching their academic goals. Lastly, in my free time I love to spend quality time with friends and family; I am a very family oriented person.

My educational background is in International Affairs and I have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in this discipline. I spent a few years working in international organizations and with victims of sexual violence before I decided to make a switch to Higher Education. As a former International student and Admissions Student worker, I always loved being involved on campus and working with prospective and first year students helping them navigate their first year. During my free time, I enjoy reading books and spending time with my family and two dogs!

Three Words to Describe Me: Passionate, empathetic, organized
I am a 2020 graduate of WCSU with a major in Anthropology. I spent my senior year studying student dynamics in the classroom, focusing on how behavior changes based on a multitude of factors. During that time, I cultivated a passion for impacting student life and learned the value of being an active force on campus. Those experiences, tied in with my immigrant background, led me to seek out a spot on the UB admissions team. I am excited to connect with students and help them reach their goals! On my days off, I am most likely baking, rollerskating or listening to an endless amount of podcasts.

International Admissions Officer
I graduated from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in 2012 with a BFA in Photography. In 2013, my art connections brought me to St. Thomas More School, a small boarding school in eastern CT where I started as a yearbook advisor and tutor among several other responsibilities. I found a new passion working with the international students at STM and was promoted to Director of International Students in 2017. I love to travel and learn about other cultures, customs and languages and I am SO excited to link all of my passions together here with the rest of my awesome New UB Admissions crew!
In my free time, I teach (virtual) dance fitness classes: MixxedFit® and Zumba®! I like to read, but tend to watch a lot of movies. And I am close with my friends and family; we hike, love the beach or any body of water really, and just being together. ❤
