Professor Thomas Juliusburger, “In the Service of Clio”

Professor Thomas Juliusburger will be the Necessary Voices speaker. His talk, entitled “In the Service of Clio,” will engage with what really is involved in being a practicing historian. Drawing upon the lives of two prominent historians, the American Wallace Notestein and the British Hugh Trevor-Roper, Professor Juliusburger will treat us to a running report on his research to date.

Necessary Voices is, in part, an attempt to take advantage of the wealth of literary and scholarly pursuit at UB and to create intellectual community around ideas. We see this as an opportunity to support this tradition at UB and to initiate our students into it.
