Emergency Medical Technician Training (EMTT) Program

EMT training in Connecticut

University of Bridgeport, in partnership with Hartford HealthCare, is now offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program designed to prepare you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to provide pre-hospital emergency care and respond confidently in high-pressure situations.

Through hands-on training and expert instruction, this course prepares you for national certification and future opportunities in emergency medical services, fire service, law enforcement, and healthcare settings

Train for the front lines of care

This comprehensive EMT training emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills development. Students will gain experience in:

  • Patient assessment and basic life support
  • Life-saving interventions like CPR, airway management, and bleeding control
  • Trauma management and medical emergency response

Learn from instructors with real-world field experience who bring emergency response scenarios to life in the classroom.

Program details

The curriculum is structured into two modules:

  • HSCI 211 - EMTT Part I: Module 1
  • HSCI 212 - EMTT Part II: Module 2

Open to all UB students, regardless of major, this course is ideal for those interested in developing practical skills that serve the community.

Dates: September 8-December 21, 2025
Days: Mondays and Wednesdays
Time: 6-10 p.m.
Location: Eleanor N. Dana Hall, Room 1 (UB campus)
Cost: $1,050.00

Please note: Course fees do not include textbooks, a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, or national exam fees.

Certifications: Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the certification exam from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Successful completion of the exam is required in order to be certified as an EMT in Connecticut.
