Designed for individuals already holding a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field, our CAS program will help kickstart a career making a meaningful difference in your community.

Program overview

At UB, our CAS program is flexibly designed with your needs in mind — helping you fulfill the requirements necessary to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). The number of credits needed to complete your CAS will vary based on your academic background. However, our CAS program is about more than gaining specialized knowledge. In addition to your coursework, you’ll complete two 300-hour internships and a 100-hour practicum — developing your clinical competence and confidence while securing your path to licensure.

Requirements and prerequisites

To be eligible for admission to our CAS program, you’ll need a master’s degree in one of the following fields:

  • Counseling
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Social Work

Application requirements and deadlines

To apply, submit an application and upload the following materials:

  • Official transcript for the master’s degree earned
  • Resumé
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Once all required materials are received, qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.

University of Bridgeport graduate programs are on rolling admissions. The priority deadlines for the CAS program are:

  • July 15 - Fall admission
  • December 1 - Spring admission

Tuition and fees
