Online M.S. Nutrition Degree Program

Nutrition Degree Program Online

Our fully accredited online nutrition degree program consists of 41 credit hours of core curriculum courses identical to the campus program, followed by completion of a comprehensive examination, which is given on campus on a Sunday 3-4 months after the completion of courses.

The exam is offered twice annually, once in spring and once in summer. Online nutrition students will receive their classes via the digital Canvas system and also utilize synchronous learning technology to provide a virtual classroom in selected courses. The program is designed to allow you maximum flexibility to complete your coursework during the week. Work is due weekly at specified times in all courses.

Program Overview

The online Master’s in Nutrition program supports the acquisition, utilization, and application of nutrition principles in clinical situations.

Coursework is designed to assist the student in gaining proficiency in counseling clients/patients in alternative and complementary nutritional therapies. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for medical, chiropractic, and other healthcare providers to expand their practice through knowledge gained from graduate studies in nutrition.

Licensure or certification is available through several individual states or national nutritional organizations.

The program is a graduate-level program and is NOT designed to lead to the registered dietician (R.D.) designation.

The program provides its graduates with a foundation for entering Ph.D. and DHSc programs in nutrition or health science.

Comprehensive Final Exam

Following completion of the core curriculum, all online students are required to complete a one-day Comprehensive Examination. The exam is held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the summer, on the main campus in Bridgeport, Conn. Travel expenses are the student’s responsibility.

The University’s Continuing Education Department offers post-graduate seminars to expand students’ and alumni knowledge by providing education on advancing research in clinical nutrition.

The Levels of Health II: Homeopathy Seminar @ John J. Cox Student Center
Sep 17 @ 9:00 am – Sep 18 @ 5:30 pm

This course will be a concise introduction to the new model of health devised by Professor George Vithoulkas, namely The Levels of Health. This follows the publication of his latest book of the same name in 2010.

Approved for 12 hours of foundational education towards CHC hours.

Featured Speaker (via video conference):

Other Presenters

  • Florence McPherson, ND., Adjunct Professor of Homeopathy at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine
  • Andrew Ward, LCH, Dip.IACH, R.S.Hom, experienced classical homeopath practicing in London, long-term student of Professor Vithoulkas, teacher, and head of E-Courses for IACH in UK
  • Kim Elia, CEO of WholeHealthNow. International teacher, historian, and dynamic lecturer on homeopathy

The concept of The Levels of Health will be presented. Within the context of the three levels of the human organism, the parameters of the model will be explained – 4 groups and 12 levels- that define the levels of health to which a patient belongs. This is done in order to gain a better insight into the patient’s disease state and therefore to reach a better understanding of the prognosis, before and during treatment. This classification helps us to understand the patient’s general condition and helps us to refine the prognosis and intelligently use any information to evaluate the remedy reaction and subsequent action needed. A proper evaluation of the case progression is essential and only possible with the correct knowledge. The rules and guidelines of this model are clearly presented and will enable the student to evaluate more successfully his/her case and therefore achieve a better outcome. Power point presentation mixed with case examples and one video case will be presented.
