Bachelor of Science in General Studies Online
Social Science Concentration

 

The B.S. in General Studies with a concentration in Social Science is offered entirely online. The courses are designed to be learner-centered in terms of scheduling, learning materials, assignments, and interaction between faculty and students and among students. The online interaction encourages thoughtful and well-prepared discussion based on both the student's command of the coursework and his or her personal experience.

Online courses follow an accelerated 8-week format, allowing students to earn their degree at a full-time pace while maintaining a professional work schedule. Courses are asynchronous; accessible anytime from anywhere. Learn more about the learning environment at Online Learning.

Online Orientation
All students are required to participate in an online orientation prior to the beginning of the program. During the orientation, students learn to navigate the Blackboard course learning system, to utilize strategies for becoming a successful online learner, and to access other University resources, primarily the Wahlstrom Library.

Degree Requirements Summary

  1. Social Science Concentration Program Requirements (30 credits)
    Includes courses in Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Religion, and Sociology
  2. University Core Curriculum (42 credits)
    Includes courses in Communications, English, Fine Arts, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Math, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
  3. General Electives (48 credits)
    Select courses that expand your field of study and provide depth in a particular discipline. The General Electives allow for transferring a multi-disciplinary number of credits from other schools, while providing the opportunity to customize your learning experience.

Transfer Options

A maximum of 15 credits may be transferred in to satisfy the Concentration requirements.

A maximum of 66 credits may be transferred in from an accredited two-year school and 90 credits from an accredited four-year school.
