A Media Campaign for the New Downtown Bridgeport

Featuring Prof. Susan Katz and her students

Mass Communication and Graphic Design students present their semester-long marketing campaign filled with press/pr, art/design, video/photography, and social media.

As part of the Publicity Methods class, students created The Bridge theme to promote the New Downtown Bridgeport through the production of professional media collateral.

It’s real-world, hands-on, and portfolio-driven.

Join Bridgeport Mayor Joseph P. Ganim, Bridgeport officials, President Neil Salonen, President Emeritus Richard Rubenstein, Provost Stephen Healey, Provost Emeritus Hans van der Giessen, Dean Thomas Ward and these spectacular students for the Publicity Methods class final presentation.

Prominent Islamic Scholars, Islamic Jihad, Terrorism and Jus in Bello

Led by Professor Kadir Akyuz

It has long been debated whether religions lead people to commit indiscriminate violence and terrorist acts.

Several Islamic scholars are believed to provide the ideological framework to many Islamist terrorist organizations.

This presentation will discuss the thoughts and teachings of the Islamic scholars that are associated with the use of violence in the context of “jus ad bellum” and “jus in bello.”
