Ah, Florence Italy—the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance—“the museum with no roof,” the source of artistic inspiration that has endured for centuries, and the location of the 2019 International Art & Design Competition: What’s BLOOMING in Your Country?

The competition showcased what’s BLOOMING in any art form—interior design, jewelry, painting, drawing, and more—in any country of one’s choosing. Academia Riaci, a well-known design school in Italy, sponsored the competition.

Busier than elves: interior design students volunteer to make Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival dazzle brighter than ever

What’s better than attending the Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival’s “A Season to Give and Grow,” one of the area’s most dazzling fundraisers?

For a group of interior design majors at the University of Bridgeport who have been helping to decorate the Burr Homestead in Fairfield the week, it’s been the opportunity to volunteer before the festival’s preview gala being held tonight.

Deans named for UB’s three new colleges (08/15/2018)

The University of Bridgeport today announced that Drs. Manyul Im, Carol Papp, and Tarek Sobh have been named Deans of the University’s three newly created colleges: The College of Arts and Sciences; The College of Engineering, Business and Education; and The College of Health Sciences.

The three entities now collectively house all of UB’s colleges and schools. All programs continue to be offered, and the colleges are intended to give faculty members broader interaction with their peers and to be venues for furthering the primary strategic goals of the University.

After inventing ways to save lives, three from SASD win at NY International Auto Show

 

Industrial design students from the Shintaro Akatsu School of Design (SASD) won three out of five top prizes at the New York International Auto Show on April 13, 2017 for devices they invented to minimize the risk of vehicle accidents that put passengers and pedestrians in peril.

Industrial Design majors Kristopher Fuji, Diana Inga, and David Jurado won Second, Third and Fourth Place prizes at the “Designs for Safety Competition,” which is held annually at the auto show at the Javits Center and draws more than 1 million viewers.

UB’s Faculty Research Day 2017 engages scholars on campus and around the world

On March 24, 2017, the University of Bridgeport hosted its annual Faculty Research Day, an interdisciplinary endeavor engaging student and faculty scholars from across campus. More than 300 were registered for the event, which was viewed around the world via Livestream, reaching viewers in Saudi Arabia, India, Jordan, Egypt, Spain, Brazil, and Vietnam as well as scattered onlookers throughout the United States.
