Technology management student a winner at Connecticut Collegiate Business Competition

A University of Bridgeport graduate student who developed a device aimed at keeping people safe and preventing other major disasters has won the Best Presentation Award at the Connecticut Collegiate Business Competition.

Joe Bango was awarded the $500 prize for Downed Standoff Powerline Sensor. The device helps emergency response and utility crews quickly locate, replace, or repair broken power lines, which have caused billions of dollars in damages and massive fires, including recent deadly conflagrations in Northern California.

NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium award helps first-generation college student fulfill engineering dreams

BRIDGEPORT, CT (November 27, 2018)—Genesis Paz was nine when her uncle first showed her the guts of a television. Mesmerized by its motherboard and outsized monitor, she watched carefully as he repaired the appliance. Later, he fixed a computer. She watched that, too. Each time her uncle had something to fix, Paz was by his side, asking questions.  

Deans named for UB’s three new colleges (08/15/2018)

The University of Bridgeport today announced that Drs. Manyul Im, Carol Papp, and Tarek Sobh have been named Deans of the University’s three newly created colleges: The College of Arts and Sciences; The College of Engineering, Business and Education; and The College of Health Sciences.

The three entities now collectively house all of UB’s colleges and schools. All programs continue to be offered, and the colleges are intended to give faculty members broader interaction with their peers and to be venues for furthering the primary strategic goals of the University.
