Important UB COVID Information for Spring 2021

Dear students,

I hope this email finds you well! As we prepare for your arrival, we would like to remind you to be aware of the processes in place to return to campus.

When returning, all students living on campus will need to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR Test within 5 days of arriving to campus regardless of where you have been. The test result needs to be received by Health Services prior to your return to campus. To submit your test results, go to your UB portal and under the COVID-19 Information box on the left, you will see the Health Record Submission Form. This is the location to upload your test results.

  • If you come to campus without taking a test or no test results, you will not be able to move directly into your spring housing placement. You will move into quarantine until you complete the steps required.
  • If you have tested positive before, you are responsible to inform Student Health Services via email at healthservices@bridgeport.edu. Be aware that every testing location varies in regards to when test results are returned. Therefore, it is in your best interest to research the testing sites near where you are located and find out when you should get tested to have your results submitted before returning to campus. Start by visiting your state or local health department’s website to look for the latest local information on testing and arrange your PCR test appointment. Be sure to share with your testing site that you are a student returning to college as this helps in getting appointments in states where testing is only offered to folks showing symptoms.
  • All students need to complete the student self-certification form 24 hours before arriving on campus.
  • All students will be required to take a second test 6-10 days after the date of their first test. This is mandatory per our UB policy.
  • Also, please look out for an email from the Dean of Students office providing you the link to complete your spring 2021 COVID training. Upon completion, you will be granted access to the academic buildings where you will attend classes. Be aware that it takes about 5–7 days for access to be granted from your completion date. Please plan accordingly.

Students coming to campus from an affected state or who have traveled outside of the US

  • Pursuant to Governor Lamont's Executive Order No. 9I, anyone traveling into Connecticut from a state, other than New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island, are directed to self-quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state or country. Our quarantine location is Barnum Hall for all undergraduates and graduate students not living in UPA.
  • Per the State of Connecticut, anyone entering from one of the identified high-risk states must fill out a travel health form upon arrival. Travelers can fill out the form online at ct.gov/travelform.

Students who are currently living on-campus will need to continue attending mandatory testing weekly on Thursdays in the Student Center. Testing will resuming on January 7, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Social Room. Be sure to register the morning prior through this link: Southwest Online Pre-Registration. You can also get the required forms by stopping into the Office of Housing and Residential Life during business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Move-in dates depend on where you are traveling back from:

  • Affected States NOT including NY, NJ, CT, or RI are eligible to come to campus starting Monday, January 18th, but no later than Wednesday, January 20th, to be tested again in Connecticut.
  • NY, NJ, CT or RI can return to campus starting Saturday, January 23rd, but no later than Tuesday, January 26th.
  • At the end of this week, we will provide another email regarding the detailed move-in times and links to sign up for a move-in appointment.
