UB employee named 40 Under 40
Kelli Meyer, University of Bridgeport’s Director of Campus Activities and Civic Engagement, was recognized by the Fairfield County Business Journal among the top young professionals in their 2019 40 Under 40 Awards. The event took place on June 11, 2019, in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Meyer, who has worked in the Division of Student Affairs at UB for the past three and a half years, said that she was honored to be among this year’s honorees.
“There are so many incredible young professionals in this area who are working hard to make an impact in the community. It’s an amazing feeling to be counted among them.”
Besides working on campus, Meyer volunteers in various organizations in the community. Currently, she serves as chair of the Thrive Emerging Leaders group through the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. Meyer described the organization as “a group of professionals in our 20’s and 30’s who are committed to building each other up as leaders and making an impact in the region through networking, professional development and community engagement.”
For Meyer, being part of the Thrive Emerging Leaders group has helped her to grow as a person, get involved in the business community, and fall in love with the city and community of Bridgeport. Meyer further stated that working at UB has helped her to grow in so many ways: “I love that I have the ability to be creative and try new things with the support of incredible coworkers and supervisors. I get to work with students from all over the world who teach me, challenge me, make me laugh and inspire me in countless ways.”
