Day of Giving
Join the Purple Knights community Wednesday, May 1, for the University of Bridgeport’s third annual Day of Giving! The event provides an opportunity for alumni, students, family, and friends to show their pride in UB and to give back to the University. This year, our goal is to secure 500 donors within 24 hours. Whether large or small, each gift enhances the UB experience.
Additionally, donor participation has a direct impact on UB’s standing in college rankings. Donors have the option of contributing either to the Annual Fund or to more specific UB causes such as scholarships, athletics, or student activities.
Through the generous contributions of President Laura Skandera Trombley, James Loh ’74, and an anonymous donor, we are also able to unlock $5,000 for every 100 donors to the Annual Fund.
Making a gift is easy. Just visit give.bridgeport.edu/Giving-Day-2019, or text ‘KnightsGive’ to 71777.
While making your donation, you will also have an option to sign up as an Advocate for the University. Advocates receive a toolkit for spreading the word about UB and its exciting new initiatives. Be sure to check out the website or our social media throughout the Day of Giving to track our progress!
Founded in 2017, the Day of Giving has provided a major avenue for students and alumni to celebrate UB. For example, alumnus James Loh pledged his $5,000 donor challenge in honor of two UB professors who had a profound effect on his life—Sue Atkinson and Peter Costello.
Loh, founder of the asset management firm JL Capital, credits them for his introduction to the field of economics and his eventual entry to the MBA program at the University of Chicago.
While the Day of Giving has benefited from such contributions, it is important to note that no gift is too small. Even a gift of $5 makes a difference. Thank you in advance for your participation in our annual Day of Giving!
