UB launches online M.S. in Analytics and Systems
The Ernest C. Trefz School of Business will launch an online version of its popular Master of Science in Analytics and Systems in the fall 2018 semester, thereby serving a growing number of students seeking to master skills in management, data, and technology, the school announced today.
The M.S. in Analytics and Systems was first offered at the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business on the University of Bridgeport campus in the fall 2017. Since then, the program has become one of the school’s most popular graduate tracks, preparing students to work in quickly growing fields like business analysis, data analysis, systems analysis, project management, and more.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, analytics and systems employment will increase 21 percent through 2024. Potential average salaries range from $50,000 for individual contributors to $125,000 or more for leadership positions.
The M.S. in Analytics and Systems program at the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business offers several options to accommodate students’ schedules and career goals. The 30-credit degree can be completed in 12-24 months. Courses may be taken entirely online, on campus, or both. Students can also earn a dual degree that combines the M.S. in Analytics and Systems with an MBA. The program has a STEM designation, per Department of Homeland Security guidelines.
Course content is designed to prepare students who wish to bridge technology, data, and leadership by combining Structured Query Language (SQL), R, SAS, Excel, Basecamp, Wolfram, and Microsoft Project with analysis, project management, and business skills.
The curriculum will be enhanced with the opening of a new Analytics Lab, opening at the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business in the fall 2018.
The program will be run under the direction of Mike Lohle, PhD, a senior lecturer at the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business.
A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Lohle spent 26 years in the financial services, insurance, information technology services, pharmaceutical, and consumer-product industries before transitioning to academia. He is experienced with all aspects of information technology, specializing in the delivery of large business intelligence and analytics solutions for major corporations. He has consulted for and been employed by General Electric, American Skandia, Keane, Condor Technology Solutions, PartnerRe, Avon, Gartner, Travelers and Anthem.
Lohle earned a PhD in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University. His research interests include business intelligence and analytics, project and program management, and the application of qualitative research methods in business settings.
