UB also was also selected to participate in the initial Kroc Summer Institute which took place in 2009.
The University of Bridgeport joined 15 teams of universities, colleges, community colleges, and institutes from across the United States and Africa in a week-long program to develop curriculum in fields related to peace studies.
The University of Bridgeport offers a Master of Arts in Global Development and Peace and also offers an undergraduate concentration in Peace and Development Studies in its Bachelor degree in International Political Economy and Diplomacy.
The UB team spent the week in furthering plans for the development of a doctoral program. They took advantage of the week to learn from top Kroc experts in the field of Peace Education and to receive the insights of professors and students in the Kroc Ph.D. program, including Dr. George Lopez, Theodore Hesburgh Professor Emeritus of International Peace Studies, and Vice President of the US Congress-supported United States Institute of Peace.
