2015 Student Leadership Banquet Awards Ceremony

Once a year, the University of Bridgeport has the opportunity to recognize those who make a real difference for the school. Students at the University of Bridgeport come from all over the world, each bringing with them unique perspectives and life experiences. Without a doubt, the incredible heart and character of the community is not only exemplified by the diversity of the students, but by the leaders who are committed to having the school be extraordinary.

Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” At the University of Bridgeport, we recognize that leaders come in all shapes and sizes, but we understand that all of them have one thing in common – they have an impact on others.

On April 28th, the Student Leadership Awards Banquet was held in the Social Room of the Student Center, where forty individuals were recognized for the impact they make on campus culture and student life. All of the nominees, nominators, staff, and faculty gathered to celebrate the students and faculty who contributed to making the University incredible this past year. The event was intended to combine a formal approach that valued the contributions of each recipient, with a personable acknowledgement of the achievements of family members.

Whether the individuals were student employees, advisers, or just a friend to all – each one took responsibility for their own experience and was committed to the lives of other people. The Award Banquet was a moment to truly thank our leaders for everything – to thank them for their dedication, hard-work, and every single moment they were making a difference while no one was watching.
