UB renames International College to College of Public and International Affairs

The University of Bridgeport has renamed the International College to the College of Public and International Affairs (UBCPIA), reflecting the school’s commitment to train students in a wide range of careers that includes political science, international law, diplomacy, and mass communications.

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously on February 1 to rename the college, which was founded in 2000.

“We are delighted that the University’s Board of Trustees approved our request,” said UBCPIA Dean Thomas Ward, adding that the new name “reflects the identity and the vision of the college more clearly. The name encompasses its breadth of academic offerings to prepare students for careers in public service and international relations.”

UBCPIA offers undergraduate Bachelor of Arts programs in International Political Economy and Diplomacy, World Religions, Matial Arts Studies, Mass Communications, Social Sciences, and Criminal Justice and Human Security, as well as Master of Arts degrees in Global Development and Peace, East Asian and Pacific Rim Studies, and Global Media and Communications.
