Bob Poe: Images by iPhone at the University of Bridgeport Gallery October 25 to November 21
The Gallery at the University of Bridgeport presents “Images by iPhone,” an exhibition of works by fine art photographer Bob Poe. It will open with a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25 and runs through Wednesday, November 21.
The Gallery is located on the University of Bridgeport campus at the Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue.
Paying tribute to the spontaneity of old-fashioned Polaroid snapshots while embodying the capabilities of social networking sites like Facebook, Poe’s photographs prompt the viewer to consider “What is art?” when digital photography and cell phone images have become ubiquitous.
“The iPhone,” says Poe, “is more than a phone. It’s an electrical umbilical cord.”
Poe has a long-time career in the broadcast industry and politics. His determination to find creative uses for new technologies prompted him to begin experimenting with iPhone photography. In 2009, he opened his gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, California, to exhibit his work.
His work has been profiled by NBC Channel 4 Los Angeles and featured in ArtWorks Magazine, California Homes, and other publications.
