Professor DeCarli began her career in education at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene in 2014 with instructing second year interns in both clinical and dental public health settings. Currently, she supervises the Fones Dental Hygiene Health Center at Jettie S. Tisdale Elementary School, a satellite clinic of the Fones School where second year interns have the opportunity to provide dental hygiene services to Bridgeport school children. She has served as a mentor for several Bachelor and Master Degree interns at the FDHHC at Tisdale Elementary since the start of her supervisory role in 2015. Professor DeCarli’s passion for dental public health and the delivery of care to underserved children in her community assisted in the addition of a clinic dentist and restorative care to the FDHHC at Tisdale Elementary beginning September 2017. Professor DeCarli also teaches Introduction to Dental Hygiene to students anticipating admission to the Fones School in the Fall semester.

Professor DeCarli’s academic honors include graduating Summa Cum Laude. Professional affiliations include the American Dental Hygienists’ Association on both national and state levels. She currently serves on ADHA Connecticut’s Social Media Committee and is also the social media contact for her local component. Professor DeCarli has presented to fellow educators at the annual Fones School Clinical Educators Workshop and to her colleagues at Fones Professional Development Day. She often volunteers at outreach events in her community with her students, including Connecticut’s annual Mission of Mercy.
