Ph.D. in Technology Management Alumni
Dr. John Jagtiani (Fall 2014 - Fall 2017)
Dr. Jagtiani is an experienced business leader with over thirty years of professional experience. During his career he has specialized in cross-industry project delivery and management, solutions architecture, systems strategy & implementation, sales methodology and enablement, management consulting, development of global consulting organizations, multi-shore / offshore capability build and management, training development and delivery, contract negotiations and vendor management. During his career, Dr. Jagtiani has held several leadership positions in organizations including IBM, PepsiCo, Accenture, Marsh & McLennan, and Oracle. In addition, he has also been involved with several entrepreneurial initiatives. Dr. Jagtiani currently serves as Group Vice President at Oracle and is responsible for customer experience growth and strategy. He serves as an adjunct faculty member at the School of Engineering at Fairfield University and has taught graduate level courses at NYU, University of New Haven, and University of Bridgeport. He holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the School of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport. He also holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics from Rutgers University and MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University.
Dr. Gazi Murat Duman (Fall 2014 - Spring 2019)
Gazi Murat Duman received his BSc. in Industrial Engineering from Yildiz Technical University (2005), and his MBA from Sakarya University (2007) in Turkey. Following his employment as an operations specialist and analyst in one of the biggest 3PL companies in Istanbul, he earned his MSc. in Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University (2010). Focusing on data analytics and decision-making, he received his Ph.D. degree in Technology Management from the University of Bridgeport (2019). Dr. Duman combines his extensive industry experience in supply chain management and logistics operations with his interdisciplinary research creating solutions for current and emerging issues. He is currently working as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Trefz School of Business at the University of Bridgeport. His primary research interests are business process analysis, sustainable supply chains, probability and statistics, data analytics, machine learning, applied artificial intelligence, fuzzy systems, forecasting and operations research.
Dr. Brian Vo (Fall 2014 - Fall 2019)
Dr. Brian Vo received his B.S. degree in Industrial Technology from East Carolina University (1995). He continued to earn three Masters: M.S. in Technology Management at the Stevens Institute of Technology (1997), M.S. in Industrial Engineering at the University of New Haven (2005), and M.S. in Software Engineering at the Fairfield University (2012). Recently, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the University of Bridgeport. He is also an Adjunct Faculty at the Eastern Connecticut State University
Dr. Vo has over 20 years of experience in Quality. His professional career is extensive in the medical devices and consumer-packaged goods industry. He has passion for quality and data analysis along with great knowledge in Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Process Improvement. Applying Design of Experiments to improve manufacturing process is a particular strength. He held various Quality positions throughout his career as Quality Manager, Principle Quality Engineer, Sr. Quality Engineer. Prior to that, he served in the United States Army, as a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Specialist.
Dr. Felipe Zapata-Roldan (Fall 2016 – Spring 2020)
Dr. Felipe Zapata-Roldan received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics at the National University of Colombia (2006), his Graduate Diploma in Innovation Management at Pontificia Bolivariana University (2009) and his M.Eng. in Engineering Management at the National University of Colombia (2014). Felipe has worked with interdisciplinary teams to develop industrial and scientific instrumentation, biomedical equipment and hardware. Since 2009, he has been a Faculty member and is currently a Tenured Professor in the School of Architecture and Design (Industrial Design) at Pontificia Bolivariana University, Colombia. Also collaborates as adjunct and co-researcher for the School of Engineering of the same university. His academic interest topics include: design, digital manufacturing, generative and algorithmic design, innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr. Zapata-Roldan also has worked as a private consultant in digital marketing and innovation processes. Felipe obtained his Ph.D. in Technology Management in May 2020 as part of a co-sponsored Fulbright Scholarship (US Department of State, Colombia’s Science Ministry, and University of Bridgeport,) between 2016 and 2020. He loves riding his bicycle, a good book, traveling and enjoys exploring digital painting.
Dr. Israel Hersh (Fall 2016-Summer 2019)
Israel Hersh is the SVP of Business Development at tekVizion responsible for Product Management, technology direction and business development. Prior to joining tekVizion, he founded PIRL LLC, a provider of technology consulting to the financial market. Prior to founding PIRL, Israel was the SVP of Product Management and R&D at IPC Systems responsible for the company’s products. Prior to joining IPC Systems in 2001, Mr. Hersh was CTO and VP of Engineering at Executone Information Systems, a telecommunication equipment company servicing small and medium size business in North America. Israel possesses broad professional competencies that include: strategic planning, process improvement, technology, management of large R&D organizations, development of mission critical products, software quality & testing, test automation, contract negotiation, problem solving, team building, outsourcing practices, vendor management, project management, product management, and telecommunication domain expertise. Israel is a member of the University of Bridgeport Advisory Board and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Technology Management at the University of Bridgeport. He holds a M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Bridgeport and B.Sc.E.E. from Tel-Aviv University.
Dr. James A. Marquis (Fall 2016-Spring 2019)
In 1968, Dr. Marquis earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. In 1969, Dr. Marquis attended the University of Bridgeport in its Master of Science and Electrical Engineering Program. In 1974, Dr. Marquis graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Masters in Business Administration. While attending the University of Bridgeport, Dr. Marquis worked full time as a Staff Engineer with Barlow Controls, Inc. of Stamford, Connecticut, and Gorn Electric of Stamford, Connecticut. At the time of his graduation from the University of Bridgeport, Dr. Marquis was the Engineering Manager at Gorn Electric. From late 1968 to early 1971, Dr. Marquis was employed by Mosler Research as its Manager of Advanced Product Development. In March of 1971, Dr. Marquis joined William Kimbell at KimchuK Incorporated and established the Electronic Division of KimchuK. The primary purpose of the Electronic Division was the establishment of Product Design and Development and Contract Manufacturing. Beginning in 1971, Dr. Marquis has been employed as the Vice President of the Electronic Division of KimchuK Incorporated and has managed that operation from a start up operation. In 2005 Dr. Marquis was made President of KimchuK, Inc. In 2011, he was awarded the Cecil J. Previdi Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and the City of Danbury.He holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the School of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport. Dr. Marquis had been married to Attorney Linda A. Marquis (now deceased) for 38 years and has three children with the ages ranging from 54years old to 35 years old. He has several patents and patents pending in a wide variety of technical areas. Among sporting activities that Dr. Marquis enjoys are golf, antique autos, scuba diving, flying, snow-mobiling, fishing and hunting. In the area of flying, Dr. Marquis is a private, instrument rated, single and multi-engine land and single-engine Sea rated pilot. He is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Dr. Ozden Tozanli (Fall 2015 – Fall 2019)
Ozden Tozanli received her B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering with honors from Istanbul Kultur University in 2011 and her M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 2013 from Galatasaray University in Turkey. During her B.S. study program, she was granted a European Student Exchange program (ERASMUS) scholarship via the European Union which provided her with the opportunity to study in Viadrina European University in Germany. She has also received a minor in Computer Engineering from Istanbul Kultur University in 2011, and the Oracle Database 12c Developer Certified Associate Certificate from New York University in 2015. She has over four years of experience in academia and various industrial sectors such as banking, manufacturing and logistics in a number of leading companies in Turkey, where she gained experience in the areas of marketing, purchasing, production planning and logistics. Most recently, she has worked in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Kultur University as a research and teaching assistant; teaching courses, lecturing practical and laboratory sessions, and managing the Computer Integrated Manufacturing Laboratory. She published four international conference papers in the areas of Supply Chain.
Dr. Ellen Belitzky (Fall 2014-Summer 2020)
Dr. Ellen Belitzky holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the School of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport. She began her academic career earning a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she concentrated in decision sciences and marketing. At the University of Pennsylvania, she also earned a M.S. in Education focused on educational management and organizational psychology with emphasis on how adults learn new technology. Ellen Belitzky was awarded an MBA from the University of Connecticut in marketing and management. She maintains certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMP) and American Society for Quality (CMQ/OE).
Ellen Belitzky's professional experience spans more than 30 years in information systems, technology, and analytics services. Professional roles have included all facets of the IT function from senior technical and architecture positions to project, program, portfolio, process, and quality management roles. Dr. Belitzky’s industry experience is extensive in the consumer-packaged goods industry (Danone, Unilever, Playtex Products). She has also worked in banking, government, insurance, health care, and not-for-profit organizations.
Leveraging social media as a knowledge management tool for pediatric oncology patients and caregivers was the focus of Dr. Belitzky’s doctoral dissertation. Her research interests include technology management, knowledge management, healthcare systems, social media, project management, and process improvement. She is an active community volunteer and resides in Fairfield, CT.
Dr. Jeff London (Fall 2015 – Spring 2020)
Dr. Jeff London is a seasoned professional with over twenty years of experience in systems engineering and business development. He also served in the United States Air Force for eleven years as an avionics technician for combat aircrafts. Mr. London has acquired and successfully applied broad knowledge of the "systems approach" for designing and managing large-scale engineering systems throughout the life cycle, while employed at various U.S. Department of Defense contractors such as Raytheon Company, Lockheed Martin, and SRI International. Jeff is currently Vice President of Engineering for Systems Modeling & Simulation Inc., a small IT company for which he is engaged in systems engineering business development activities. His leadership skills and innovative approach to problem solving have been instrumental in building highly cross-functional teams for tackling systemic organizational or technical issues. Mr. London graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics. He also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from LaSalle University and a Master of Science (MS) in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University.

Olumide Adebayo (C) Fall 2015
Olumide Adebayo has 15+ years of enterprise-level system development and operations experience ranging from hands-on development to high level team management. He has a special eye for fault-tolerance and scalable architecture.
Olumide obtained both his Bachelor's in Computer Science and Master's in Technology Management from the University of Bridgeport and believes so much in the quality of education at the school that he's decided to pursue his Ph.D. in Technology Management here as well.
After years of working in the Affiliate Marketing space, he recently shifted focus to Big Data Analytics with special interest in data sanity and unification.
Dan Tenney (C) Spring 2015
Dan has over 35 years of experience in business, having held Senior level positions in quality and technical management capacities for more than 25 years. Half his career was spent in the food industry, the other half in filtration science, working for globally-respected companies that included H.J.Heinz Co. and 3M Co., along with holding principal positions in a small entrepreneurial company and a mid -sized filtration company. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, a Certified Toastmaster Presenter, a 3M Black Belt trained Green Belt Coach, and has various teaching and consultation experiences such as an Adjunct Professor in the Technology Management Program at the University of Bridgeport’s (UB), and the Business Management Program at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU).
Dan has performed several training roles at 3M including Leadership and Diversity and Employee Engagement Trainer, and 3M Business Compliance Leader. He has authored several technical conference papers on strategic technical management including the 2019 PICMET, 2017 NEDSI, 2017 DSI, and 2014 ASEE conferences. Dan’s experience and functional leadership has supported his continual participation on several top-level company steering committees. Dan is currently a Board of Director member for the Bridgeport Child and Family Guidance Center. Dan received his B.A. Degree in Environmental Science from Eastern Connecticut State University, and an MBA in Operations Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is a member of Sigma XI and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.
Luja Shrestha (C) Fall 2016
Luja Shrestha received his undergraduate degree in Electronics Engineering. He spent three years in systems programming before joining MS in Technology Management at the University of Bridgeport. He graduated in 2010 and has since been working in the field of enterprise data storage systems. He has held multiple positions in both engineering and management roles, currently as an IT Manager at Fiserv, Inc. His professional certifications include PMP, Six Sigma Green Belt, and ITIL. His research interests include IT Governance, Business Process Engineering, and Strategic Investment Decision Making.
Elizabeth Famodimu (C) Fall 2017
Elizabeth Famodimu is a seasoned professional with over nine years of experience in information technology internal audit, information security management, regulatory compliance involving data security, as well as internal controls over financial reporting. She has held positions working for one of the Big Four accounting firms and Fortune 100 companies. Her professional certifications include Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor certifications (CISA and ITIL). Elizabeth obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Information Management & Technology and Master’s degree in Information Management from Syracuse University. She also received a Certification of Advanced Study (C.A.S) in Information Security Management from Syracuse University. Her research interests include IT Governance, Privacy, and Innovation.
Nadeem Shahid (C) Fall 2017
Nadeem Shahid’s professional experience spans more than 25 years in information technology and services. Nadeem started as a help desk professional moving to senior technical and network architecture positions in Pakistan. Nadeem Shahid was a visiting adjunct faculty member for Pak-AIMS – The Institute of Management Sciences, Lahore Pakistan for more than 8 years. Nadeem moved to USA in 2002, studied MS Computer Information Technology at the Central Connecticut State University, New Britain CT and started a new career as a data warehouse consultant. He is currently working as full time data warehouse consultant at the Phoenix Life Insurance, Hartford CT. He is also a part-time adjunct faculty member at the Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT. Nadeem Shahid has earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Punjab, Pakistan, and has received graduate computer science diploma from Marmara University, Istanbul Turkey. His current research interest are in the fields of technology integration and data warehouse for successful merges and acquisitions.
Hernan A. Sanchez (C) Fall 2018
Hernan is an enthusiastic, IT/business management professional and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in different industries. He started his career in banking; where, as a Financial Services Manager, he helped his clients achieve their financial goals. He transitioned into IT seven years ago, helping marketing agencies transform their traditional business into digital. He is currently a Business Relationship (IT) Manager at PepsiCo, where he serves as a strategic partner to business units, understanding and articulating business needs and driving value from IT investments. Hernan has a degree in Business Administration (Minor in Marketing) from Universidad Del Norte in Colombia, an MBA in Finance from the University of Bridgeport, and a Master of Science in Information Technology from Sacred Heart University. Hernan is passionate about innovation and his primary research focus is entrepreneurship and startups. He volunteers as a counselor and mentor to entrepreneurs with SCORE ("Counselors to America's Small Business.")
James Accuosti (C) Fall 2016
James Accuosti received his Bachelor's in Computer Science from Sacred Heart University in 2006. He worked as a support technician in an urban school system for several years during which he earned his Master's in Technology Management from UB (2015). Shortly thereafter, he assumed his current job as an IT manager for a private school in Waterbury CT. During his career, James developed extensive experience in educational and classroom technology support and found he enjoys optimizing IT layouts for the best cost and efficiency. He also holds CompTIA® A+ and Network+ certificates. While at UB, James developed a love for research which he will use for the PhD program in Technology Management this Fall. When not studying or working, James enjoys dance and spending time with family.
Joseph Bango (C) Fall 2017
Joseph Bango is the President of Connecticut Analytical Corporation (CAC), a medical device manufacturer and research firm located in Bethany, Connecticut. In his capacity at CAC, Mr. Bango has served as a principal investigator or a co-investigator on more than 20 federal research contracts for agencies such as the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, DARPA, NASA, and the National Academy of Science. Mr. Bango holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Bridgeport, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Central Connecticut State University. Mr. Bango also served 8 years in the U.S. Navy where he was a subject matter expert in the Strategic Studies Group at the Naval War College. He is also a Fellow of the Advanced Study Program at MIT, based on work while a PI on a satellite propulsion system for the U.S. Air Force. Much of Mr. Bango’s research is based on knowledge acquired while an undergraduate working under the late Dr. John Fenn at Yale, the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for electrospray mass spectrometry. Mr. Bango worked with Dr. Fenn until his passing in 2010 on technologies ranging from space propulsion to counter-terror technologies to in-vitro corneal tissue generation, the latter of which resulted in a joint patent and a $4.8M earmark to a hospital developing the technology. Mr. Bango was recently awarded 1st Place in ThermoFisher Scientific’s 2016 Innovation Day competition in San Diego for best new bioscience technology for mass spectrometry based proteomics and metabolomics.
Jas Gaurav Singh (C) Fall 2018
Jas has extensive experience in digital transformation, process improvement, strategy, and information technology at banking, insurance, and software companies. Jas received Bachelors in Computer Science from Punjabi University in India and his MBA as well as Masters in Accounting from University of Hartford. Jas’s experience. Jas’ current role at Sterling National Bank focuses on digital experiences and related transformation. He led process reengineering of key experiences and digital initiatives at Citizens Bank. At The Hartford, he developed a digital direct to consumer experience that has emotional, conversational, and visual elements. During his work at BlumShapiro consulting, Jas worked with local regional school consortium, he identiﬁed opportunities to optimize non educational operations and increase focus on educational activities. His experience at Qualtech Systems, a software company, includes management of all ﬁnancial aspects for the company including sales analysis, ﬁnancial reporting, operating plans, and lending relationships. His primary research interests are related to acceleration of digital transformation in the current age of artificial intelligence and automation.
Serap Zel (S) Spring 2019
Serap Zel has held regional and global HR roles in Europe, Middle East and North America in different industries including automotive manufacturing, chemical, shipping, and consumer products. She worked in HR Director for the North America region and Global Head of Talent Acquisition roles at BIC. Prior to joining BIC, she was the Regional HR Director for the West and Central Asia region based in Dubai at Maersk Line, the largest container shipping company. She also held several roles in Maersk Line, having worked as Global HR Partner for the commercial organization in the headquarters in Denmark and Regional HR Manager for Black Sea countries in Turkey. Before that, she worked in several HR roles in Dow Chemical and Toyota in Turkey. Serap holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. She is passionate about implementing HR technologies and HR transformation projects.
Jun Zhang (C) Fall 2018
Jun Zhang received an Advanced Diploma in Networks & Cyber Security program and a Bachelor of Science in Gaming and Animation Design at Oxford Brookes University; a Master of Science in Technology Management at University of Bridgeport. Studied and trained in courses of CISSP, PMP, Security+, CEH, CWP and CCNA. He has worked at the University of Bridgeport on the Instructional Design team for 4 years, responsible for innovation and management of the projects between Instructional Design team and IT Helpdesk team. Since 2020, He is also a member of the Student Entrepreneur Center at UB.
In his spare time, he runs home labs and self-hosting services for more than 10 years. Established and managed eSport teams and university clubs in the past.
His research interests include Blockchain, Ethereum, Decentralization, Containerization, 5G, IoT, Smart-City, Privacy, Ransomware, Botnet.
Moizuddin Syed (S) Spring 2019
Moizuddin Syed received his B.E in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College in MH, India and started working as a Quality Engineer Intern in 2013 in an Agro Product and Cold Storage company. He started the Mechanical Engineering Master's Program at the University of Bridgeport (UB) in 2014. During his tenure at UB, Moiz has participated in a number of research projects and presented his findings at national conferences. Upon graduation, he started working as a Mechanical Project Engineer at a Mechanical Construction firm where he was assisting in HVAC design for hospitals, commercial spaces and educational institutions. As a Mechanical Project Manager, Moiz has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in buildings, infrastructure and industrial sectors. He is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. in Technology Management program where he is investigating the role of drone and image processing technologies on the construction industry. He is also involved with the “Care to Care”, a non-profit organization based in India, actively participating in online sessions to guide students towards their educational and career goals.

Abdullah M. Aldwean (S) (Fall 2020)
Abdullah is professional with over 17 years of work experience in the healthcare industry. He worked for both the private and public sectors in Saudi Arabia. During his career, he has developed extensive experience in several areas such as purchasing, government contracts, logistics, and supply chain, finance, and medical insurance. In 2015, Abdullah was appointed as an investment coordinator at the Armed Forces Hospitals, where he was responsible for supporting the continuous efforts to enhance the financial performance by oversight investment projects and find new approaches to improve revenues. In addition to his duties, Abdullah was the manager of the employee’s social club and a member of different committees such as the tender and procurement and academic affairs committee. Abdullah has a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in systems form the Arab Open University in Riyadh (2012), and an MBA from Saudi Electronic University in association with Colorado State University (2016).
Philip Duncan (S) (Fall 2020)
Phil received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering Technology, from the University of Hartford in 2016. Followed by his master’s degree in Technology Management, from Central Connecticut State University in 2020. He is currently working at the University of Connecticut for the School of Engineering, as its lead Lab Technician where he provides technical support for faculty, staff, and students. Phil has acquired critical experience throughout the years working in higher education and other school districts, in various I.T. support roles. Phil has a passion for electronics, and during his free time, he enjoys building computers along with installing car electronics.
Bashiruzzama Khan (S) (Fall 2020)
Bashiruzzama Khan has worked at the Center of Excellence at Toyota Motors North America on Digital Supply Chain and E-Procurement of SAP Ariba as a Certified Consultant for the past three years. He previously worked for various ERP Clients in Supplier Lifecycle Performance implementation and was an active participant at the SAP Global conferences. Bashir has received his Bachelor and Associate degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and obtained his MS in Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Bridgeport. Upon completing his degree, he conducted an internship at one of the Germany-based automotive companies in Connecticut as an Associate Design Engineer. He has profound interest in studying blockchains and agile supply chains.
Harshada Shrivastav (S) (Fall 2020)
Harshada Shrivastav received her MS in Information Systems from Pace University (2010). She also received MS in Interdisciplinary Studies from New Jersey Institute of Technology (2013). She has been working for a Financial technology company for 7 years. During this period, she has gained expertise in Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Risk Management. She is currently working as a Senior Business Analyst. She is involved in data analysis, gap analysis and provides domain knowledge expertise to high profile banks. She is also an experienced software engineer familiar in all phases of the software development life cycle including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and support. Harshada’s primary research interests include Information Overload, Social Media, Emerging Technology and Online Education.
Randy Williams (S) (Fall 2020)
Randy’s professional experience over the past 15 years sits firmly at the intersection of Finance and Technology. He has most recently developed a functionalized corporate Finance BI department for his employer, which drives financial transparency for operational finance. During his career, Randy has worked in the Finance departments of XPO Logistics in Greenwich, CT, Cantor Fitzgerald in Midtown Manhattan, Citigroup on Wall St, General Electric in Stamford, CT, Wells Fargo in Chester, PA and GSI Commerce in King of Prussia, PA.
From an academic perspective, Randy has recently completed an MS from Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science, focusing on Enterprise Analytics in 2018. Before this, Randy completed an MS in Finance from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business, focusing on Investment Management in 2012. Randy’s initial formal training in Business came with his first graduate degree, completing an MBA from West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Business in 2008. Randy began his academic career in his home state, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in Political Science and US History, graduating in 2003. Outside of professional and academic experience, on the personal side, Randy is a health & fitness enthusiast, political junkie, performing arts supporter, and a loving dog dad.
