Reporting to the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct, the Assistant/Associate Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct is one of two Central Housing Administrators responsible for the overall coordination of a comprehensive Residential Life program. The Assistant/Associate Director (ADRL) provides support to the Central Housing Office and oversees one residence hall for graduate students, supervises a staff of Community Assistants and Residence Hall Monitors, implements educational/social programming promoting student development and community within the residence hall and serves as a resource for student concerns/issues. The final position title (Assistant/Associate) is determined based on qualifications and experience.
This is a 12-month, live-in, full-time position.
Responsibilities for the Assistant/Associate Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Assist the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct with the overall administration of the Residential Life program including direct supervision of the Resident Director staff;
- Assist with student staff selection and coordinating the training programs for professional staff (Resident Directors) and student staff (Resident Assistant, Community Assistant and Residence Hall Monitors);
- Assist with the investigation and adjudication of significant violations of the Student Code of Conduct;
- Assist with the design and coordination of housing assignments and the room selection process to ensure overall maintenance of computer records and room assignments including new assignments and updates/changes;
- Oversee the daily operations of one a graduate residence hall housing approximately 200 residential students including assigning rooms, controlling keys, reporting repairs, maintaining records and preparing necessary reports;
- Respond to emergency situations in an efficient and effective manner to insure the safety and well-being of residents;
- Act as a first responder to emergency situations in the residence halls. Provide on-call responsibility for the campus on a rotating basis with other Residence Life Staff members;
- Assist the Director in the formulation of residential policies and procedures;
- Establish a positive working relationship with academic and administrative offices;
- Attend departmental and divisional meetings and in-services; participate in special committee assignments and other specific tasks as required;
- Update Datatel with on-campus students and billing;
- Coordinate with Bursar in billing of students;
- Work with Athletics to coordinate early arrivals for athletes;
- Correspond with students and families regarding housing questions and concerns;
- Assist with additional duties as requested by the Director.
Qualifications:
- Masters required and 2 or more years experience in Student Affairs;
- Degree in Counseling, Higher Education, or Student Affairs preferred;
- Experience/background in residential life preferred;
- Experience/background in programming, health and wellness, and/or student conduct preferred.
- Experience in Datatel preferred.
