Barry S. Kendler MS, PhD Nutrition
Dr. Barry S. Kendler is a Professor of Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport Human Nutrition Institute and has been with teaching at UB since 1992. He has also been a Professor of Biology at Manhattan College, where he taught courses in Nutrition and in Cardiovascular Biology to pre-professional students for over three decades. His PhD and MS are in Nutrition and Zoology, respectively, from The Pennsylvania State University and his undergraduate degree is in Biology from the City College of New York. He is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN), a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and a New York State Certified Nutritionist (CDN). He has given lectures to nutritional and medical audiences and has publications in numerous peer-reviewed biological and nutritional journals.
Dr. Kendler has a gift of being able to weave the hard science of nutrition into a clinical and utilizable context. His research interests center on conditionally-essential nutrients, which he believes will be the main focus of nutritional therapeutics in the coming years.
Dr. Kendler teaches courses in Developmental Nutrition and Vitamins and Minerals and also serves as a thesis advisor. His passion about nutrition and his dedication to his student’s has consistently made him one of the most popular professors in the Nutrition Institute.
