Introduction:
It is an online hospital. Here patients
can log on and consult doctors from all over the world. The online hospital
would be accessible from the convenience of the patients' home or the local
clinic of another doctor. The system would help in the exchange of data
required to provide immediate health care to the patients anywhere in the
world. The information exchanged would include:
a)
Still images
from x-rays and slides.
b)
Text of the
history and physical examination of the patient.
c)
Immediate
consultation from the doctor; probable diagnosis.
Our system would allow the patient to
log on to the system and choose a consultant from the list provided. The
patient can submit his symptoms that would be added to a database that
maintains the patients' history. The consultant chosen by the patient can log
on to the system as well, and access the patient's history and symptoms. The
doctor can also provide probable diagnosis to the patient. Either this can be
done at separate times, or the patient and the doctor can enter a private room
(online chat room) and discuss the symptoms and diagnosis. During the chat or
otherwise, the patient and the doctor can exchange still images of x-rays,
typed reports of various medical tests, etc. The users can also post their
concerns and questions online, which they are usually reluctant to ask.
This system provides the patients with
worldwide accessibility to doctors from all over the world. It also helps the
patients to get a second opinion from the best doctors available in the
specific field. This new technology if widely followed could prove to be a
turning point in medical history and patient-doctor relationships.
