Course Description

 

Rotor aerodynamics: blade element theory, momentum theory, Goldstein's theory, modem vortex theories. Comparison of theory and experiment in hover, transition and high speed flight, rotor blade motion: articulated and hingeless Rotors. Helicopter performance estimation in level flight, autorotation and climb; control required to trim in steady flight.
