Course
Description
This
course introduces the student to the engineering design process
on a beginning level. Emphasis is placed on the structure
of the design process involving problem definition, development
of alternatives, analysis, decision making and iteration.
One guided design project and one independent project are
completed by student project teams. Concurrent lectures and
homework assignments develop skills in data management, mechanics,
chemistry, electrical theory, energy and economics. Personal
computer usage is emphasized for mathematical calculations
and the preparation of engineering reports.
