Academic Program Review
Academic program review is a continuous peer review of academic programs at
the University of Bridgeport over a five-year cycle. The purposes of program
review are to:
1. assess the quality of teaching and learning;
2. compare the curriculum and student learning outcomes with peer programs or
institution;
3. track post graduation placement and achievement of students;
4. evaluate resource allocation;
5. develop a plan for program improvement; and
6. recommend action to:
--- ● maintain the
program,
--- ● maintain with
program additional resources,
--- ● increase, reduce
or cap enrollments for the program, or
--- ● phase-out the
program
Every academic unit under review will prepare a self-study containing an
assessment of the program. An Internal Review Committee will critique the self-study and either verify the outcome of
the self-study or offer alternative recommendations. External evaluators
will be invited to evaluate the program review process, verify recommendations
of the internal review and offer recommendations.
The academic program review will be consistent with the University Strategic
Planning Portfolio, and the outcomes will be utilized to construct annual and
long-term academic budgets, and to improve the quality of the academic programs.
