Professor Schaff came to the University of Bridgeport in 1966 from chain-store operations management and developed UB's courses in Consumer Behavior, Global Marketing, and Service Marketing. Consulting in the US, Europe, and Asia on strategic planning, market development, exporting, and research for advertising, packaging, and new products has all helped enrich students in his courses. He was so honored with recognition in Who's Who Among Americas' Teachers.
Professor Schaff's research has focused on philosophic issues and marketing as a strategic function. Publications include Seeking a Strategic Niche; Newfound Stress in Academe; Ethics, Morality and Marketing; and Assessment by Objectives. Current research focuses on marketing strategy issues emerging from new information technologies and the rapidly changing global business environment, especially in emerging markets.
Active in University life, Professor Schaff is Executive Director of the Institute for Study of Values and Ethics, President of the University Senate, member of the Core Curriculum Committee, and Director of Strategic Planning. Outside the University he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prospect Drum Corp., on the Board of Editors of the Journal of Pastoral Counseling, and the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Technology Institute.
