Ph.D. Admission
The Ph.D. Coordinator is responsible for coordinating administrative functions related to the Ph.D. program including admission, appointment of advisors, and formation of dissertation committees, for each doctoral student. In addition, the coordinator is charged with preparing and administering the preliminary and the comprehensive examinations. The coordinator is also responsible for recommending courses for students who may not have the proper prerequisites for certain courses.
Admission Criteria
Students admitted to the Ph.D. program should have a master degree in computer science or engineering or related discipline with at least a 3.3 GPA. Interested students in the Ph.D. program without an M.S. degree must apply and be admitted into the M.S. program first, and then upon finishing the M.S. degree, they would be eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program.
Students admitted from non-English speaking foreign countries, having a master’s degree in computer science and engineering, will also be required to have a TOEFL score of at least 550. GRE's are not required for admission into the program, but are recommended.

Students are required to send all application materials by April 1st for Fall admission and September 1st for Spring admission to the following address:

Application Package
Application package MUST include all the following material by deadline:
- Application form
- Two reference letters
- Official transcripts from schools, undergraduate and graduate
- Application fee of $75 made payable to the University of Bridgeport
- TOEFL score of 550 or higher from non-English speaking foreign countries.
- GRE score: not required but highly recommended.
