Financial Aid Counselor

The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for counseling and assisting University of Bridgeport enrolled and accepted students and their parents, with applying for and understanding the financial aid process.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Counsel students and parents
  • Participates in all Open Houses, Accepted Students Day and Orientations
  • Verifications
  • Adjust student’s aid according to credit load, housing and budget adjustments.
  • Research pending aid
  • Verify student eligibility
  • Packages Students
  • Monitors the FSEOG program
  • Veterans Affairs
  • Oversees application process for UB Gifted and Endowed scholarships.
  • Perform related duties as necessary to support the University of Bridgeport’s mission.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. One year or more of experience in a college/university financial aid office. Understand packaging students, verifications and COA. Knowledge of Title IV federal regulations. Must have professional oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service experience required. Experience with Datatel a plus, but not required.
