Faculty Director, IDEAL Program-Undergraduate
School of Continuing and Professional Studies
The Faculty Director supervises a body of adjunct faculty who will provide a classroom-based and an online-based learning experience of the highest caliber for undergraduate students enrolled in the IDEAL Program. The Faculty Director will conduct an interviewing process for new adjunct faculty, make hiring decisions, supervise and assess the teaching performance of adjunct faculty, and participate in the development of the course schedule.
*This is a 12 month, 20 hr/week part-time position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and direct faculty selection and orientation, including advertising, screening resumes and scheduling the assessment process. Supervise the instructor approval process and collaborate with the appropriate academic school or college.
- Direct the faculty development process, including the orientation of new faculty, regular faculty development activities and special developmental activities that address issues of instructional quality, classroom management, application of various learning theories, and policies and procedures.
- Review students' evaluations of faculty and compose summaries to be shared with faculty.
- Direct and administer the student grade appeal process. dminister the faculty budget.
- Prepare required reports on the activities of the faculty.
- Collaborate with the IDEAL Director and academic advisors to develop the annual schedule of courses.
- Conduct the process of contracting faculty, generating contracts, reviewing faculty course syllabi and maintaining faculty files.
- Schedule, coordinate and conduct general faculty and lead faculty meetings.
- Review curriculum and in conjunction with representative faculty, develop and propose new academic programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution. Doctorate preferred.
- Experience with adult learners and non-traditional, accelerated, educational programs.
- Capacity for leadership, initiative, and timely follow-through with a minimum of direct supervision in a competitive marketplace. Demonstrated ability to manage people and educational processes.
- A working knowledge of and experience in fiscal/budgetary management.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
