Instructions for Completing the Online Application to the Fones School of Dental Hygiene (Master Program)

Before filling out the Online Application for Graduate Students, please carefully read the instructions that follow.

• Please complete the online application no later than 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester you which to be admitted.
• Be sure to fill out all parts of the Online Application. Optional information is labeled as such.
• When you have completed each page of the application, click "Submit" or "Next" and you will be taken to the following page.

All applicants to the Fones School of Dental Hygiene(Master Program) must submit the following:

• $75.00 non-refundable Application Fee is required. (Check or money order made payable to the University of Bridgeport.)
• Official college transcripts from every school attended, indicating degree(s) earned and dates. Undergraduate transcripts must show clear evidence of the capacity for independent study and the ability to pursue graduate work.
• Have three (3) letters of recommendation submitted by persons who, by virtue of their occupation and/or credentials, would be considered judges of your professional potential. One of these letters must come from a licensed health care practitioner. Letters should be mailed directly to the Director of Admissions at the University of Bridgeport Health Sciences Admissions Office at the address indicated below. Recommendation forms are available and may be submitted in place of letters.

Admission Criteria

To qualify for admission, the applicant must:

1. Have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program and hold a baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene or related field.
2. Have an overall quality point average of at least 3.0 on a 4 point scale in undergraduate education.
3. Submit two recommendation forms completed by an individual who has knowledge of the applicant’s clinical ability as a dental hygienist (such as an employer, dental hygiene co-worker, or previous clinical supervisor) and an individual who has knowledge of the applicant’s academic ability (such as a previous dental hygiene program director, faculty member or clinical supervisor).
4. Submit a statement of career goals.
5. Submit an official transcript of all college work.
6. Send a photocopy of a license to provide evidence of current dental hygiene licensure in good standing.

Acceptance to the University of Bridgeport Fones School of Dental Hygiene is based on academic history, motivation, and consideration of character and potential within the profession.

Following a review of your academic records, you may be invited for a formal interview with the Admissions Committee.
