INTERNSHIP
FALL 2007
THE BLACK ROCK ART CENTER is a very active ART CENTER producing Concerts, exhibitions, performances, workshops for inner-city residents, and the region. The Art Center provides an exceptional atmosphere for learning about and participating in all aspects of the music and entertainment business, including recording, high technology, promotion, record distribution, concert production, press and radio contacts. During the Summer a series of public events will be produced including African music and dance, Latin music, film screenings, and other forms. The Art Center seeks highly motivated individuals with good organizational, communication and computer skills for internships. While interns will be exposed to and interact with the entire IPA staff, the Web Design Intern will be concentrated in one of the following areas:
Art Center Web Site: Intern will provide internet support for and design expertise for one of the most active art web sites in the State of CT. This will include design work, updating, regular bulletins, archives, and a photo history of the organization.
MySpace Web Site: Intern will divide his/her time between the Development and Marketing functions of the MySpace web site.. Responsibilities include regular updates, addition of ‘Friends’, sending of ‘bulletins’ and expanding the reach and impact of the site. www.MySpace.com/BlackRockArtCenter
Art–E–News: The intern will be responsible for designing and sending a bi–weekly art news letter to approximately 5,600 subscribers relating to upcoming events at the Art Center. In addition, the intern will work to expand the reach, contacts and mailing list for the Art–E–News.
FALL, 2007, internship for an exceptional, articulate, motivated web designer/internet skilled person with high motivation and lots of energy. During this internship you will:
- develop & expand IPA web site including Flash, HTML, audio clips, video images.
- work on the Internet, doing artist research, international communications, etc.
– develop & expand E–mail communications, ART-E-Newsletter,
– learn good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to generate correspondence, telephone contacts, press information, etc.;
- work with international artists, professional artists and community volunteers;
- gain general office skills, and learn to take charge of the situation.
- an interest in the recording, distribution and promotion of recordings.
