To apply for grant considerations at the University of Bridgeport, students must start by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* to determine eligibility.

The primary types of grants that students receive are:

Pell Grants

The Pell Grant* is based on financial need. To apply, students must complete the FAFSA* each year.
The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2007-08 award year (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008) is $4,310

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

Federal grant program for undergraduate students with exceptional need. SEOG grants are awarded by the school's financial aid office, and provide up to $4,000 per year. To qualify, a student must also be a recipient of a Pell Grant.

 State Grants

State grants also tend to be determined on financial need. Most state grant agencies use the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* to determine eligibility. It is recommended
that you contact your state's financial aid authority to review deadlines and required forms.

For Connecticut state residents who demonstrate financial need, you may be eligible for the
Connecticut Independent College Student Grant (CICS)*.  CICS awards vary and are based
upon state appropriations.
