Good Health Habits

Good health habits are also an important way to help prevent the Flu. Here are some tips from the Center from Disease Control and Prevention:

  • Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.
  • Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
  • Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. For more information about the importance of clean hands, go to the UB Student Health Services page, and click, Health News. http://www.bridgeport.edu/pages/3259.asp
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

Naturopathic Approaches to Flu Prevention

The Naturopathic Clinic can make recommendations for flu prevention and natural treatment. Many natural flu remedies are available for sale in the dispensary in Warner Hall. The Dispensary also has homeopathic flu vaccine that can be taken by mouth for those not interested in getting a flu shot. The Naturopathic Clinic is open daily and students are seen free of charge. Appointments are required. You can make your appointment by calling 576-4359, or in person at the front desk in Warner Hall. Staff and faculty pay a nominal fee to be seen in the clinic.
