Valthorsdottir Leads Bridgeport Sweep of NYCAC Weekly Awards
Bridgeport, Conn. -- All-Region forward Lilja Valthorsdottir led a UB sweep of the NYCAC women's soccer weekly awards as she earned the NYCAC Plyaer of the Week award today. Valthorsdottir earned the award after a three-goal, one-assist week that saw her move within one goal of the tying the all-time UB career goal scoring mark.
Freshman keeper Meg Ryan, a native of Weymouth, Mass., was named as the NYCAC Goalkeeper of the Week after picking up her first career shutout in a 6-0 win over Dominican. Ryan made two saves in 100 minutes this week to help the Purple Knights extend their scoreless streak to over 400 minutes.
Freshman forward Therese Peterson earned her second-straight Rookie of the Week award after posting two goals in UB's win over Dowling, including the game-winning score. She now has five goals on the season, tied for fourth in the NYCAC.
