Employees may elect to enroll in the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield group medical plan. There is an employee premium co-pay. A pre-tax premium payment option is available.
The University offers two alternative health plans (Option A & B), both with the existing carrier, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Sheild. Both plans maintain the same scope of coverage, with corresponding with the corresponding percentage share, however, there is a difference in the premium cost and the out-of-pocket cost for each plan.
Option A
- Has higher monthly premiums with lower out-of-pocket cost than option B.
Option B
- The premiums are lower than Option A, however the “out of pocket” cost for prescriptions, doctor’s office co-pay, out-patient care, diagnostic testing, etc. are higher than Option A.
Both plans should be carefully reviewed when making a selection of coverage. Detailed information on both options is available in the Human Resources Office.
