Career Services Center
Mission
The Career Services Center is a comprehensive career counseling and resource center dedicated to empowering students as active participants in their own career development. Through career exploration and experiential opportunities, students are motivated to expand their knowledge of themselves and the world of work in a dynamic global community.
Philosophy
Career development is a lifelong and multi-dimensional process of choices and adjustments. The Career Services Center at the University of Bridgeport embraces the philosophy that career development is not just about finding a job or getting into graduate school, but also acquiring the skills necessary to manage one's career at any point along the career development continuum. Adhering to this philosophy, we view our services as educational in nature. This education occurs in a variety of formats including activities connecting students with potential employers and members of the community. All our services are geared toward preparing our students to successfully assess themselves, research career options, acquire relevant work skills and use effective tools as they transition to productive academic endeavors and satisfying employment.
Goals
Our primary on-going goals are:
- To provide students with skills and opportunities needed to effectively manage their careers as they make the transition into the workplace and throughout their work life.
- To market the students and graduates to prospective organizations interested in recruiting our students for internship, educational and career positions.
- To build and maintain synergy between students, faculty, alumni and the community at large.
