Active Directory

A new initiative has started with the University of Bridgeport that will affect all computer users and computers associated with the University. The OIT will be working with each department over the coming months to setup your computer to work with what is called - Active Directory. This process will provide two benefits for the University:

1) Security for the network.

The security aspect of what we are performing and flexibility for using these systems will be significantly enhanced for the University moving to Active Directory. The protocol for the process is that you should expect to be contacted by a technician to setup an appointment to discuss the process with you and a timeframe for activating the process. We will be working with each department and school separately.

2) Backup for critical University data.

This process will require the OIT technician to work with each individual to setup your machine and review with you your machine operations so that all your applications are still accessible, your email is available, and how to access the area where you can store your information that you want to be backed up. We need to be specific, because we need to setup what permissions and security you require for the backup areas.
