Transfer Admissions Counselor

Supervise, direct and take responsibility for transfer admissions in the day-to-day activities required to meet the annual new transfer student enrollment goals.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment and admissions of transfer students into the University of Bridgeport.
  • Supervises other transfer counselors and coordinates their activities to ensure achievement of goals.
  • Accountable for the effectiveness of transfer activities such as interviewing, correspondence, travel, application review, community college visits, transfer college fairs, campus visit days and open houses.
  • Responsible for planning special projects and training staff.
  • Works collaboratively with the entire Admissions staff on projects and events to ensure the overall success of the Admissions team.
  • May be called upon to represent the University at professional, regional and national meetings and conferences.
  • Perform additional job related duties as delegated by the Director of the Program.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required along with experience in college admissions or in a high school guidance office. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Knowledge of computer databases, information systems, and new technologies including electronic applications. Utilize the web for recruitment of students. Must have good presentation abilities in order to communicate information to the media and frequently make presentations at secondary schools and receptions for students and parents. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
