Instructions for Applying to the Online Distance Learning
Programs in Human Nutrition M.S., Computer Science M.S.,
Technology Management M.S.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Bridgeport Online Distance Learning! Online Distance Learning is designed for students who wish to pursue their degree program online without physically being present at the University of Bridgeport. In other words, if you are an international applicant, you will be able to take online courses while you are in your home country. All you need is a computer, e-mail address, access to the Internet, and you can take classes or complete your degree from your home or office.

Please understand that if you choose to pursue the Online Distance Learning option, you will NOT be taking classes at our campus located in Connecticut, U.S.A. If you do NOT wish to pursue the Online Distance Learning option, you MUST complete the appropriate application by clicking here.

Important Notes

  • Please be sure to fill out all parts of the Online Application. Optional information is labeled as such.
  • When you have completed each page of the application, click "Submit" or "Next" and you will be taken to the following page.
  • International Students should only fill out the Application for International Students. Do NOT fill out any other application.
  • Carefully read the instructions below before proceeding to the Online Application Form.
  • When filling out Part 1 of the Online Application, International students residing in the U.S. must provide a permanent address in their native country.

Admission Requirements

  1. Submit a NON-REFUNDABLE Application Fee of $35.00 – bank check or money order- drawn on a U.S. Bank and made payable to the University of Bridgeport. DO NOT SEND CASH. Your application will NOT be processed without the application fee. You may also pay the application fee online using a VALID credit card.

  2. a. For Graduate/Post-Graduate Applicants seeking Master or Doctorate degrees: Submit OFFICIAL (notarized/certified/or attested) mark sheets, academic transcripts, final examination results, diplomas, and degree certificates from every college or university attended showing course work, grades, number of course hours, and conferral of bachelor's degree if available. Applicants who studied at an Indian Institution should submit their CONSOLIDATED mark sheets and academic transcripts if available.

    b. Applicants who have not yet received their Bachelor degree certificate/diploma may still apply by providing their year-to-date OFFICIAL (notarized/certified or attested) mark sheets, academic transcripts and a letter (or a provisional degree certificate) from their college/university stating their anticipated graduation date. In other words, evidence that the applicant has completed, or is in the process of completing, a university-level degree program must be provided.

  3. Submit official (notarized/certified/or attested) course descriptions or syllabi, with exact course names and numbers, for all post-secondary (university/college) academic work attempted so that it may be evaluated for possible transfer of credit. Student-generated course descriptions are not acceptable.

  4. Submit a word-for-word notarized/certified/or attested English translations in the same format as the official document if the official document is not in English. It is important that everything on the official document be translated. Translations must be done by a bona fide translating agency in your country or in the U.S.

  5. All non-native English language speakers must demonstrate English language competency by providing a TOEFL score of 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT). For more information on TOEFL, please go to (www.toefl.org). The University of Bridgeport School Code for TOEFL is 3914.

  6. Submit a personal statement/essay CLEARLY explaining why you wish to pursue your particular academic subject, what the degree will do for your personal and career development, and how such a degree will help you achieve your future goals and aspirations. Include your professional plans once you earn your degree. Applicants pursuing the Human Nutrition online program must submit a 250 to 500 words essay detailing the above mentioned.

  7. Provide two letters of recommendation in English. These letters must come from professors or employers who can attest to your attainments and potential for success at the graduate level. No special form is required.

  8. Submit a resume or C.V. reflecting your work experience (if applicable). However, students with no work experience can still apply.

  9. Submit a CLEAR copy of your passport information page which includes your complete name, date of birth, and country of citizenship.

  10. Applicants currently in the U.S.A. must submit CLEAR copies of their U.S. visa stamp, I-94 card, I-20 form (if any), I-797 form (if any), and all other immigration documents.

Additional Requirements by Program

Master of Science in Computer Science (M.S.) and Technology Management (M.S.)

  • GRE is recommended but NOT required for admission in the Computer Science or the Technology Management online program.

Master of Science in Human Nutrition (M.S.)

  • Applicants applying for the M.S. in Human Nutrition Online Distance Learning program must successfully complete the following prerequisite courses with a grade of "B" or better: Basic Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, and Introduction to Biochemistry.

  • Applicants who have NOT completed the above-mentioned prerequisites will NOT be admitted into the Human Nutrition Online Distance Learning program.

  • Applicants may complete the above-mentioned prerequisites at a recognized university/college in their home country.

  • Applicants pursuing the Human Nutrition Online Distance Learning program must submit a 250 to 500 word personal statement/essay CLEARLY explaining why they wish to pursue this particular program, what the degree will do for their personal and career development, and how such a degree will help them achieve their future goals and aspirations. Applicants must also include their professional plans once they earn the Master of Science degree.

Program Start Dates

  • Computer Science and Technology Management M.S. Online Distance Learning programs have four different start dates:

Summer Term: July 1
Fall Term: Oct. 1
Spring 1 Term: Jan. 1
Spring 2 Term: April 1

You MUST choose ONE specific start date by sending us an e-mail to admit@bridgeport.edu after your submit your online application.

Application Deadlines

  • It is highly recommended that you apply and submit ALL the above documents at least one month before the start date of your online program.

  • Any applications received after the deadlines will automatically be deferred to the next semester.

Mailing Your Documents

Please mail ALL the above-mentioned documents as soon as possible, but no later than the application deadline, to the address below. We recommend you use a special courier such as FEDEX, DHL, or UPS.

Application Processing Time

Processing time is 4-5 weeks from the date your application is received. Processing time may be extended if certain required documents are missing. Therefore, we recommend that you send us ALL of the above-mentioned documents in one package/envelope to avoid any unnecessary delays.


Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships and financial aid are NOT available for any graduate or post-graduate program.
