Gymnastics Defeats Springfield to Improve to 5-1

Springfield, Mass. -- The UB women's gymnastics team improved to 5-1 on the season in dual meet competition with a 183.875-182.725 victory over Division III Springfield College on Wednesday evening in a rescheduled meet that was originally postponed due to a snowstorm.

UB's Joell Koller continued her recent success for the Purple Knights and captured first place in a pair of events to lead the team. Her mark of 9.3 on the vault won that competition, as well as her 9.575 on the uneven bars. Brandi Embrey was second on the bars at 9.45, followed by Sarah Hansen at 9.25 to complete the UB sweep.

Hansen finished in a tie for second on the beam at 9.35, on her way to the all-around title in the meet.  Senior Kate Warner posted an impressive 9.625 to lead UB on the floor exercise and give her the individual event victory.
