Music Education
The music education concentration focuses on the need to develop diverse skills marketable to a wide range of current needs in the field of music education. We offer two semesters of groups strings and encourage all music ed. students to continue to play strings in addition to their primary instrument in chamber ensembles in order to develop strong secondary string skills. We also offer two semesters of recorder with an innovative approach to forming Renaissance consorts in schools. Our students continue to play recorders in the Early music ensemble to develop strong secondary recorder skills. To develop choral music skills, we offer vocal diction, vocal conducting, and a course in the literature and techniques appropriate to developing solid choral programs at a variety of age groups. The unique training offered in this program allows students to market inexpensive low cost programs that produce results.
