Instructor, English Language Institute

The ELI Instructor will report directly to the Director of the English Language Institute. The Institute provides instruction in English as a Second Language to international students prior to their enrollment in university programs. Instructors are responsible for carrying out in a professional and positive manner all teaching, assessment and other duties as defined by the Director.

Job Description

• Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students of the Institute
• Teach English as a Second Language at any level offered by the Institute
• Adhere to the curriculum defined for each level and use the assigned books
• Evaluate students in a conscientious and responsible manner according to the defined criteria
• Must be available to teach from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday or when mutually agreed upon with the Director
• Submit a weekly lesson plan when requested by the Director
• Attend staff meetings once a week or when requested by the Director
• Participate in the system of ongoing instructor evaluation and development as defined by the Director
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements include a bachelor's degree. A master’s degree in TESOL or related field is strongly preferred. Experience teaching English as a Second Language to adults is preferred. Familiarity with word processing, electronic mail, internet and new technologies for learning is preferred.
