Graduate and Professional Students
Once a student has been accepted and their processed FAFSA is received by the Financial Aid Office, an award letter will be generated, usually within 1 to 2 weeks.
The Office of Financial Aid typically awards enough aid to cover direct costs (tuition, fees, books) in a graduate student's financial aid package. In some cases, students may request additional loan funds to cover indirect costs such as room, board and travel expenses, which occur during the academic year (usually 9 months). These costs sometimes entail borrowing above and beyond federal loan limits, and involve "alternative loans," which are credit-based as well as need-based. These loans are not federally insured, and therefore, lenders do require a borrower to have good credit. For further details on these loans, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
How to Qualify
All students interested in applying for financial aid are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be completed online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Office of Financial Aid at (203) 576-4568. Or you can e-mail us at: finaid@bridgeport.edu.
