- Please be sure to fill out all parts of the Online Application. Optional information is labeled as such.
- When you have completed each page of the application, click "Submit" or "Next" and you will be taken to the following page.
- Note: International Students should only fill out the Application for International Students. There is no need to fill out any other application.
Carefully read the instructions below before proceeding to Part 1 of the Online Application
Important: When filling out Part 1 of the Online Application, International students residing in the U.S. must provide a permanent address in their native country.
- The University is on rolling admissions, admitting students throughout the year. However, International students should apply no later than July 1 for the Fall (September) semester and no later than November 1 for the Spring (January) semester.
- Students with a minimal knowledge of English who plan to attend the University of Bridgeport's English Language Institute (ELI), should begin the application process no later than one year before they expect to begin their university studies.
- Applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Office when all application materials have been received. Please expect 4-5 weeks for total processing time. Some applications may require extra processing time if certain necessary academic or financial documents are missing. You will be notified by mail as to whether or not you have been granted admission.
- If you are admitted and have submitted the appropriate financial documentation, the university will issue the Certificate of Admissions and the "I-20 Certificate of Eligibility" or, in some cases, the DS-2019.
- To apply for the F-1 student visa (or J-1 exchange-visitor visa), you must present your Certificate of Admissions and your I-20 or (DS-2019), along with your academic records and financial documents indicating proof of adequate funding, to the nearest U.S. Consular office/American Embassy in your home country.
CHECK LIST FOR INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE (POST GRADUATE) APPLICANTS
- Submit the Online Application for International Graduate Students.
- Submit the Application Fee of $35.00 by check or money order made payable to the University of Bridgeport. DO NOT SEND CASH. Mail the Application Fee to the address indicated below.
- Submit OFFICIAL copies of all ORIGINAL post-secondary (university) records. This includes mark sheets, examination result, diplomas, and degree certificates.
- A word-for-word English translation in the same format as the document is required if the original is not in English.
- Submit course descriptions or syllabi for all post-secondary academic work attempted so that it may be evaluated for possible transfer of credits.
- Provide two letters of recommendation in English. These letters should be from professors, counselors, employers, and others who can attest to your attainments and potential for success at the graduate level. No special form is required. These letters must be mailed to the Office of Admissions together with other required documents.
- Submit a personal statement/essay explaining why you wish to pursue a Master's degree in a specific major.
- Submit a resume, C.V. or autobiography reflecting the student's work experience (if applicable). However, students with no work experience can still apply.
- Complete and submit the Financial Statement for International Students with an original bank statement from the sponsor showing adequate funds. The bank statement must be of recent date of issue, not more than 6 months old, and it must be in the same name as the sponsor.
- All non-native English language speakers must demonstrate English language competency by providing a TOEFL score of 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT). However, students with no or insufficient TOEFL may still apply. If you don't demonstrate English language competency prior to registration, you will be given the University English Language Assessment Battery (ELAB) test upon arrival. If you pass at a satisfactory level, you may begin classes. If you do not pass at a satisfactory level, you will be required to attend the University's English Language Institute (ELI) until proficiency is reached. ELAB passing grade for graduate students is 72.
::: GRE is NOT required for any graduate program, but it is strongly recommended.
::: A minimum GMAT score of 400 is required to be considered for the MBA program ONLY. However, students with no GMAT scores or insufficient scores can still apply as conditional admission may be granted.
::: Please note that your online application will remain inactive until all necessary academic and financial documents are received.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COUNSELING & HUMAN RESOURCES, AND THE EDUCATION GRADUATE PROGRAMS
Counseling and Human Resources (M.S.)
- The two letters of recommendations that are required for Counseling and Human Resources should evaluate the applicant's awareness of self and others, the understanding of interpersonal dynamics, tolerance, flexibility and cooperative ability. The letters must be from faculty at the undergraduate institution.
- Students who are applying for the Master's in Counseling and Human Resources program or for the Master's in Education program must make sure that their personal statement CLEARLY indicates why they wish to pursue such a degree, what the degree will do for their personal and career development, and how such a degree will help them achieve their future goals and aspirations.
- The online application that follows is the application that should be completed for admission to the University of Bridgeport.
Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)
- The program in Educational Leadership requires test results from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), and a minimum TOEFL score of 55 (PBT) or 213 (CBT). For more information about these examinations, you may visit www.ets.org for information on the Graduate Record Examination, and www.tpcweb.com for the Miller Analogies Test.
- Applicants must include a Personal Statement that includes reason for interest in beginning the doctoral program and a description of significant personal and professional accomplishments. ? Scholarship and achievement in the area of educational management must be demonstrated.
- Two letters of recommendation are required. No special form is required. It is suggested that recommendations come from professors or employers who can evaluate your achievement in the educational management field. These letters must be mailed to the Office of Admissions together with other required documents.
