The Computer Applications and Information Systems degree focuses
on the application of computer hardware, operating systems,
databases, and networks as tools for generation of information in
support of business decision making. The student practices the use
of at least one of several major programming applications
languages, Visual Basic, JAVA, or C++,
as information systems applications tools.
Systems analysis is approached as a method through which to
evaluate hardware and software needs, suitability of operating
systems, and appropriateness of wide area or local networks.
The objective of this degree is to prepare graduates for direct
entry into computer applications and information systems positions
in industry. Courses are offered in appropriate logical sequences
that lead to technical mastery of at least one major segment of
this degree field. Opportunity is offered to pursue special topics
of student interest, develop a Senior Project or undertake a
Practicum (internship) at a local area company as appropriate to
the individual student's interests.
