The Master of Science Program in Instructional Technology (iMSIT) at the University of Bridgeport prepares students for three careers related to the discipline of Instructional Technology:US News and World Report Rankings

  • teaching using technology in the classroom
  • training using technology in business or industrial settings
  • development of educational software applications

The goals of the program (see Courses) are in keeping with the tenets of the University's Mission Statement, "dedicated to career enhancing, quality education" with a global perspective. Implicit in the program's design is a concern for multicultural perspectives on education and training, given the University's diverse international clientele (ranked #1 in diversity by U. S. News and World Report in 2001-2004). As a unit of the University's School of Education, and in keeping with its Mission statement, the program also seeks to serve the needs of educators in providing leading-edge technology enhanced instructional opportunities to their local and statewide constituents.

Unique to the program are its cohort-basis, whereby students will be selectively admitted as a group to complete curriculum requirements in their respective tracks, and blended instructional delivery mode, using a combination of live instruction (one-weekend-a-month) and online interaction via text/audio/video conferencing. A standard issue tablet computer with wireless networking capability and software bundle is another hallmark of the program (see Table Computer Requirements, Ordering).
