Certification for Nutritionists
The Intersociety Committee on Nutrition Certification has been established with the hope to enhance communication and cooperation between various nutrition societies (American College of Nutrition, American Dietetic Association, American Society for Clinic Nutrition, American Society of Bariatric Physicians, and American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) and certification boards in human nutrition (American Board of Bariatric Medicine, American Board of Nutrition, Certification Board of Nutrition Specialists, Commission on Dietetic Registration, and National Board of Nutrition Support Certification). Currently, several certification credentials are available to individuals practicing human clinical nutrition, which differs with respect to their eligibility requirements, the clinical experience required, their certifying examinations, and the scope of practice skills being certified. A summary of these certification credentials (based on information provided by the credentialing organization) is presented in the links below.
This information is being published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the Journal of American College of Nutrition, the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, and Nutrition in Clinic Practice.
